Karan Johar, who made Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham is back with his new venture Student of the year movie. This movie is all set to rock the nation with its storyline and music. Karan Johar announced this venture just after the finish of his Shahrukh starrer flick My name is Khan. Shooting for this movie started in August 2011 and is expected to be released till the mid of 2012. This movie has its shooting schedules out of Mumbai and the most important locations would be Dehradun and Shimla. Though the shoots of Dehradun are over and the cast and crew are shooting in Shimla now.

The Student of the year movie is the first movie in Karan Johars direction without starring Shahrukh khan. This movie has three new faces, Varun Dhawan, son of director David Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, the 17 year old daughter of Mahesh Bhatt and Siddhartha Malhotra. The two names i.e. Siddhartha Malhotra and Varun Dhawan were assistant directors under Karan Johar during the making of My name is Khan. The three debutants cannot expect for a better luck and opportunity as they are being directed by Karan Johar. Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan are jointly producing this movie; hence the movie has two banners, Red Chillies Entertainment and Dharma Productions. The Student of the year movie also features Rishi Kapoor, Ronit Roy and Kitu Gidwani. Rishi Kapoor will be seen playing the role of a Gay in the movie. The movie also has special appearances of Shahrukh Khan and Kajol to inflate the Student of the year rating. Vishal Shekhar will be taking care of the sound tracks and would like to deliver some of the magical chartbusters of the coming year.
